Colt Blackpowder Revolvers

I believe they were designed to easily replace one cylinder with another for rapid reloads. Am I right?

  1. Yes, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3rj89cqQQ8 although this guy does it slow for the camera.

  2. Many were indeed designed as such. Usually there was a marking of some sort to connect the frame and the associated cylinders as each cylinder had to be hand timed/fitted to the frame for timing.

  3. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible but not really practical as you'd have to effectively disassemble the gun to put in a new cylinder (I have a replica 1851 Navy)

  4. Yes. Any revolver where the entire cylinder is removable has that feature
