Should I Be Horrified or Pleased?

BoingBoing:
For more than half a century, governments all over the world trusted a single company to keep the communications of their spies, soldiers and diplomats secret. That company was secretly run by the CIA, which had the ability to read all those communications for decades.
Someone who worked for CIA long ago, deserves a big raise.

  1. I'm a bit surprised that the CIA gets credit, since that really falls into the NSA's bailiwick. But, who knows.

After all, for a long time CIA got all the credit for spy satellites, because the existence of the larger-budget National Reconnaissance Office was secret - until some congress-critter let the cat out of the bag in the '90s.

  2. For a long time, it was jokingly said that NSA stood for No Such Agency.
And this really sounds like the Double-fake the OSS was so famous for.
