8/22/26 The Hill reports on scromiting, a cute expression formed from screaming and vomiting. Isn't that adorable? The formal description is:

Cannabis (or cannabinoid) hyperemesis syndrome (CHS) is as serious as it sounds. The condition, which can cause excessive vomiting with recurring bouts of severe stomach pain and nausea, was first detected in Australia two decades ago. Some have referred to a combination of CHS symptoms – screaming, due to the intense pain, and vomiting – as “scromiting.”

 Heavy marijuana use. It does wonders. 

When NPR Reports It...

2/21/26 NPR:

Researchers analyzed health data on 460,000 teenagers in the Kaiser Permanente Health System in Northern California. The teens were followed until they were 25 years old. The data included annual screenings for substance use and any mental health diagnoses from the health records. Researchers excluded the adolescents who had symptoms of mental illnesses before using cannabis.

"We looked at kids using cannabis before they had any evidence of these psychiatric conditions and then followed them to understand if they were more likely or less likely to develop them," says Dr. Lynn Silver, a pediatrician and researcher at the Public Health Institute, and an author of the new study.

They found that the teens who reported using cannabis in the past year were at a higher risk of being diagnosed with several mental health conditions a few years later, compared to teens who didn't use cannabis.

Teens who reported using cannabis had twice the risk of developing two serious mental illnesses: bipolar, which manifests as alternating episodes of depression and mania, and psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia which involve a break with reality.

Now, only a small fraction — nearly 4,000 — of all teens in the study were diagnosed with each of these two disorders. Both bipolar and psychotic disorders are among the most serious and disabling of mental illnesses....

Silver points out these illnesses are expensive to treat and come at a high cost to society. The U.S. cannabis market is an industry with a value in the tens-of-billions — but the societal cost of schizophrenia has been calculated to be $350 billion a year. 

The Christchurch study also controlled for prodomal symptoms of mental illness (was this person showing signs that this was there first?) as well. While only "a small fraction" became mentally ill, these illnesses, especially schizophrenia, are terribly destructive to a society, along with the afflicted individuals. Hence, George Soros' funding of legalizing marijuana.

Most people who live in the Burley/Rupert community and many of our friends and family members elsewhere have by now heard of the tragedy that occurred on Monday involving our father. We find it necessary to say something out of respect for the victims involved and their family's as well as the community we have been a part of and loved. As mothers, wives, daughters, and granddaughters ourselves it is unfathomable to imagine something so horrific taking place and losing a loved one in such a tragic way. Our hearts and thoughts will forever be with every life touched by this terrible loss.

As daughters we feel that our father finally lost his lifelong battle with a very severe mental illness that has plagued him and our family throughout most of his life. This is the worst type of ending imaginable for first and foremost his victims, but also his family and for himself. We believe that once he has received proper psychiatric care he is going to realize the devastation he has caused, and he is going to have to live with this the rest of his life. We know that if he were in his right mind he would be horrified by his actions. Schizophrenia is a disease that, when left untreated, wreaks havoc on a person's entire life and well-being. Unfortunately, those who suffer often do not recognize they need help, and it is very difficult to get them the help they need against their will. This paired with a lack of community resources or awareness of how to handle mental illness appropriately, it can feel next to impossible to get people the help they need when they need it.

We would again like to express our deepest condolences for the victims and their families, as well as the entire community that has been affected by the events of this past week.

My brother's assaults on strangers were never even close to this severe, but I know full well the sense of upset that this tragedy was not stopped before it was too late.  Every family member goes through grief and frustration for many years before it ends up here.  The well-established correlation between heavy marijuana use and schizophrenia is part of why I have become a fierce opponent of decriminalizing marijuana.  While the primary victim is the pothead, there is plenty of secondary damage.

"Up to 30% of schizophrenia cases among men aged 21 to 30 are related to heavy and problematic use of marijuana, according to the findings.

"The researchers also found a tripled overall risk of schizophrenia linked to cannabis use in young men compared to women: Around 15% of cases of schizophrenia in men aged 16 to 49 might have been avoided in 2021 by preventing cannabis use, in contrast to just 4% among women in that age range."

But it's natural.  Do you wonder about the increase in mass murders?

Kyle’s now in recovery, but his is a story that is becoming familiar to more and more American families. Someone begins showing classic signs of hardcore drug addiction. Eventually, they suffer a full psychotic break. But the only drug history is for cannabis.

“We’re now counting 37 cannabis-related diagnoses a day,” Dr. Roneet Lev, an addiction medicine doctor at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego, said about her emergency department. “It’s been steadily increasing over the years. When I started in the 1990s, there was no such thing. Now I see 1 to 2 cases per shift. The most common symptom is psychosis.” 

“We probably see 20 THC-induced psychoses for every amphetamine-induced psychosis,” said Ben Cort, who runs a drug and alcohol treatment center in Colorado. One study showed an increase of 24% in cases of psychoses in emergency departments in Colorado in the five years following marijuana’s legalization in that state in 2012....

“Now that THC is a more readily available drug and the perception of harm is at the lowest point in recorded history, we treat more people for THC disorder than for opiate disorder right now,” said Cort. “I’d say about half of our census is THC. And the vast majority of them have THC-induced psychosis.”

“One clinical study showed that a moderate dose of pure THC causes psychotic symptoms in about 40% of people who lack a family history of psychosis. If you’re a casual user and your dosage is mild, that likely just means a touch of paranoia,” said neuroscientist Christine Miller, an expert on psychotic disorders.

Thirty-five percent of people who have experienced such symptoms, however, will go on to experience a full psychotic break, according to another study, if they continue their high risk environmental exposure by continuing to use cannabis.

Legalizing marijuana has been one of George Soros' long-term projects.  Soros hates America.  Coincidence? 

10/22 UCSF:

The researchers analyzed data from diagnostic codes from every hospital admission, emergency room visit and medical procedure in California for the years 2005 through 2015, identifying nearly one million people who had no preexisting AF, but who later developed AF during these years. Among patients in the databases examined, 132,834 used cannabis, 98,271 used methamphetamine, 48,700 used cocaine, and 10,032 used opiates.

In the longitudinal study, published in the European Heart Journal on October 17, 2022 (October 18, 2022 Central European Summer Time), the UCSF scientists found that marijuana users had a 35 percent increased likelihood of later developing AF.

“Despite exhibiting a weaker association with incident AF than the other substances, cannabis use still exhibited an association of similar or greater magnitude to risk factors like dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, and chronic kidney disease. Furthermore, those with cannabis use exhibited similar relative risk of incident AF as those with traditional tobacco use,” the study authors reported.

Remember When Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Was a Big Concern?

 "A recently published measure of PCE (prenatal cannabis exposure) and adolescent brain cognitive development found “PCE is associated with persisting vulnerability to broad-spectrum psychopathology as children progress through early adolescence. Increased psychopathology may lead to greater risk for psychiatric disorders and problematic substance use as children enter peak periods of vulnerability in later adolescence.”[1]  This also argues that widespread use of cannabis represents a substantial risk to those unborn, much like fetal alcohol syndrome.

Cannabis use and DSM-IV cannabis use disorders are associated with adverse consequences (1, 2), including cognitive decline (3–5), impaired educational or occupational attainment (6–8), impaired driving ability (9–13), emergency room visits (14), psychiatric symptoms (15–17), poor quality of life (18), other drug use (19), and risk of addiction or substance use disorders (1). Despite this, Americans increasingly view marijuana use as harmless (1, 20–22) and support its legalization (23). Reflecting these changing views, 23 states now have laws permitting marijuana use for medical purposes (of which four also legalized marijuana for recreational use). Marijuana use is more prevalent in these 23 states than in others (24–26). Consistent with these changes, marked increases have occurred in the U.S. prevalence of DSM-IV cannabis use disorder among veterans (27) and adults in the general population (28, 29). Cannabis-related emergency room visits and fatal car crashes have also increased (11, 14).

I Have Mentioned Before the Marijuana and Mental Illness Connection

This 6/1/22 Newsmax article observes that marijuana is often a component of mass murderer background.   While this is a complex item to tease out because as near as I can tell, almost everyone under 40 smokes pot.  The evidence of heavy marijuana use causing, at least for some, mental illness is pretty strong.  The efforts of George Soros to make every state a marijuana refuge is possibly part of why what used to be unimaginable (going into a K-12 school and slaughtering kids apparently at random) into something that seems to be a rare but not startling part of life.  Or maybe Soros wants America to be a major world leader, like Jamaica.
