The energy density of batteries is really low.
ReplyDeleteA car battery is probably under 1,500 watt-hours.
A single 16-oz propane cylinder is equivalent to 3,000 watt-hours (assuming 47% combustion efficiency).
1800 watts from a battery?
ReplyDeleteIf all you want is to heat a cup of water, something like this will last longest https://www.amazon.com/Fdit-Portable-Immersion-Element-Electric/dp/B083S6DCKX/ref=sr_1_2?crid=2C9TR4GQ8HEUW&keywords=12%2Bv%2Bcoffee%2Bheater&qid=1702568777&sprefix=12v%2Bcoffee%2Bheater%2Caps%2C119&sr=8-2&th=1
I would expect something that worked OFF a car battery would allow you to boil water but not much ELSE.
ReplyDeleteBetter off with a butane hotplate.

Check the JC Whitney Catalog, if they are still in business. I remember once, a number of 12 volt cooking devices that had the standard automobile cigarette lighter type plug.
