Starbucks Virtue Signalling

1/30/17 Buzzfeed:
On Sunday, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz announced that his company would commit to hiring 10,000 refugees at Starbucks locations around the globe — including in the US — and criticized President Trump’s immigration ban.
So they aren't going to be hiring any new arrivals unless they are shipped inside bags of coffee beans. Is Starbucks wants to hire refugees elsewhere, no problem. But what they want to hire in America sounds like something to applaud:
“We are developing plans to hire 10,000 [refugees] over five years in the 75 countries around the world where Starbucks does business,” Schultz said in a letter to employees. “And we will start this effort here in the U.S. by making the initial focus of our hiring efforts on those individuals who have served with US troops as interpreters and support personnel.”

  1. He's going to be SHOCKED to find out that the only value of his that most of those refugees have is "America is bad".

  2. Billy: I rather doubt most refugees hold this view. The big problem is that some do, and many of their children will do so in an attempt to be "authentically Muslim."

  3. Hiring ten thousand refugees? I think his existing base of over educated and under skilled Barristas will find some competition there, since, correct me if I'm wrong, but most of the stores are in the USA, and to make this virtue signalling visible, this change will have to be strongly reflected in hiring in those stores.
