Bought My Wife a New Jeep Renegade

A 2016 year end closeout.  Of course, the rebates that they advertise are generally not available in conjunction with the killer loans (0.0% for 60 months; 1.9% for 72 months), but the $1000 off coupon in the mail was.  It is not quite as fancy as the Jaguar of course, but the driver's seat has a bunch of nice manual adjustments.  It's not quite as wide in the cargo area as the TrailBlazer, but it also fits better in the garage.  Because of Jeep's repair record, we bought the extended bumper-to-bumper warranty, which also covers lost or destroyed key fobs.

For a 4 cylinder, it has a lot of pep.  This is mostly the 3.734 final drive ratio.  This used to be a way to get blinding acceleration out of muscle cars, at the expense of top speed and gas mileage.  But combined with a nine-speed automatic, you get great mileage and good acceleration.  Now just need to sell the 2007 TrailBlazer (175,000 miles) and ideally the 2005 Jaguar X-type (72,000 miles).

  1. Will it handle plowing the driveway, or is something else dedicated to snow removal?

  2. I believe it will; just stay in low gear.

  3. Congratulations! I hope you're as happy with yours as my wife is with hers.

The website RenegadeReady.com has lots of accessories you may or may not need. We have a slightly small garage and the antenna was hitting on the way through. The website CravenSpeed.com sells a stubby antenna for $20 that is 3" shorter and solved the problem. We have no difference in reception with it, but we are in town.

Let us know how it works in *real* snow - as I said yesterday, we've only had a bit of slush and ice here in KC since we got ours.
