Interesting Change
At the end of every session of the Rhode Island General Assembly, in large print are the words "God Save the United States" until the June 1789 session, when there was serious question whether Rhode Island would ratify the new Constitution, at which point the session ends "God Save the State." And at the end of the Jume, 190 session, during which they ratified the Bill of Rights, "God Save the United States" again.
