Yesterday afternoon I decided to collimate the big telescope in preparation for an upcoming star party. I was thrilled at how easily it collimated. Colimaton of a reflecting telescope can be very irritating, which is why many small telescopes return such poor images. They really aren't bad optics, but until you all the mirrors facing each other correctly, you are doomed to crappy images.
I bought an earlier version of this laser collimator a few years ago, and what difference it makes.
Tonight's star party was a major success. The collimator meant crisp, sharp images of Moon, Jupiter, Venus, and The Orion Nebula.
