Personally, I prefer the David-the-Shepherd-Boy model rock.
It's smaller, but it's also more aerodynamic. And once you master the sling firing mechanism, it's arguably rapid fire (if 5 rocks per minute qualifies). And has a documented history of dropping large, armored aggressors.
Either one might serve double-duty if "pet rocks" ever come back in style.
