One Of My Readers Bought This Camera

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2KK

If you can email me and let me see the quality of HD video it produces, I would be very grateful.  I am already very grateful that you bought it through the Amazon widget on the side of the blog -- it put $20 in my pocket.

  1. I've off and on been looking for a better camera without stepping up to a full frame style DSLR, and found the praise of Panasonic Lumix cameras picture taking quality to be impressive.

Less so were the stories of entirely inadequate customer support I read in credible Amazon.com reviews; perhaps acceptable for a ~ $100 point and shoot camera but intolerable for an investment that could approach or top $1000 by the time I bought a second good lens or so. I've regretfully crossed these cameras off my list.

  2. Go see kenrockwell.com, he does good camera reviews even if he is a shill for the major camera makers.

He claims not to be, but we know how that works...

  3. I would recommend the Lumix DMC-FZ200. I have the DMC-FZ150 which is great and my fourth camera in the Lumix line. It has all of the features of SLRs in one unit. 35-600mm zoom and a lens that has a 2.8 aperature throughout the entire zoom range. This is what drew me to the Lumix line in the first place. Plus, I take a large percentage of closeup photos and this model has a minimum focusing distance of less than an inch. It was just released and is $550 at Amazon but it should go south of $450 in a couple of months like they have done in the past. Another feature I use is taking bracketed photos 2 stops apart and then combine them into a high dynamic photo. It is a very impressive camera.
