It Was a Noble Hope

I mean Bush's belief that freeing Iraq of Hussein could lead to a democratic Muslim society, but it appears that Hussein's Baathists were the most progressive part of Iraqi society.  11/7/24 Telegraph:

Subversive Film

 Baby Boom (2001) was free on YouTube.  I have enjoyed watching Diane Keaton's performances from the very first movie of hers.  

This was a profoundly subversive film.  She plays a hard as nails career woman, childless and planning to stay that way,enjoying all the perqs of modern liberated woman, with some hard to understand position at some Wall Street firm.  She is aiming to make partner.  

Then her cousin in Britain dies and a British social worker delivers the cousin's orphaned daughter to her.  A day or two watching adorable baby has the expected effect.  I won't spoil the rest of it.

A majority of millennial women don't consider themselves feminists -- in spite of an educational system entirely built on promoting this!  I suspect much of this is revulsion at the way in which lesbians and straight men-haters dominate a movement once primarily focused on legal equality,

Not Biology But Patriarchal Oppression!

The speaker you’ll see here is biology professor Heather Heying, wife of professor Bret Weinstein. Both Heying and Weinstein left Evergreen State College as part of a settlement deal last year. Heying was making a point about physiological differences between men and women. “Are men taller than women on average?” Heying asked rhetorically. She added, “Does anyone take offense at that fact?”

It seems someone in the audience did because Dr. Peter Boghossian (seated on the right) turned toward the back of the room and Professor Heying chuckled.

“So I would say you could be irritated by it,” Heying said. She continued, “You could be irritated by the fact that women have to be the ones that gestate and lactate. You could be irritated by a lot of truths but taking offense is a response that is a rejection of reality.”

But before she had even finished her statement, a group of students got up and walked out of the room. As Heying continued to talk about physiological differences between men and women, there was a loud commotion in the back of the room. One of the protesters apparently damaged the sound system on the way out.

At this point, a camera out in the lobby area shows a small group of protesters, one of whom (the girl with purple hair) is led to a seat by a police officer. There are some cuts in the video but she is clearly agitated and says at one point, “Even the women in there have been brainwashed.” She shouts “F**k the police” as she exits a few moments later.

My wife took a mandatory women's studies class at Sonoma State where the professor claimed the height difference was because girls were intentionally starved to keep them short.

Oxford University has extended time for maths and computer science exams in a bid to help women get better grades.

Undergraduates were given 105 minutes to complete their papers, rather 90.

There was no change in difficulty or the length of questions and female students were said to do better as a result.

According to the professors, these masculine norms include “asking good questions,” “capacity for abstract thought and rational thought processes,” “motivation,” the expectation that students would be “independent” thinkers, and a relatively low fear of failure.

Al Franken Admits Groping, Makes Himself the Victim

Former Playboy model LeeAnn Tweeden said Friday on 'Good Morning America' that she 'had to endure being with him for almost two weeks' after 'he stuck his tongue in my mouth' as Franken mocked her with one passive-aggressive gesture after another.
In some cases, she said, Franken would draw devil horns and tails on her glossy photos while she was trying to autograph them. 

'So at the end when I got that picture, it was like the final parting shot of the, "Ha, ha, she's going to see this when she gets home" that I couldn't, you know, see him face-to-face to confront him.'

In case you haven't seen coverage, groups of Pakistani men in Britain have been turning out teenaged girls in many cities while local authorities ignored the problem to avoid being called Islamophobic.   (Coming to American cities soon, I am sure.)  Now if one draws the conclusion that all Pakistani men are pimps, you have drawn a bigoted conclusion.  But it is not an absurd conclusion that Islam's belief that captured non-Islamic women may be used as sex slaves ( a position the Koran teaches, as some Muslims acknowledge) could explain this monstrous behavior.  This might reduce your enthusiasm for encouraging an Islamic immigration wave.

To Labour, the choice was feminism, Islam, protecting children (pick one).

USA Today Just Became Deplorable

9/1/17 USA Today:

In a viral photo from the Associated Press, a woman is pictured cradling her baby as a man carries them both to safety amid the Hurricane Harvey floods. While the image is quaint, it has a thoroughly modern feel. She has a topknot, leggings and Hunter rain boots.

She could be me.

The image has become iconic of the still unfolding disaster, a photographic balm on a nation still wounded deeply from the vitriolic events at Charlottesville and elsewhere. Thousands upon thousands have shared the image on social media, many adding the phrase, “This is America.”

But the picture has also sparked jokes about “toxic masculinity” as some sarcastically remind others of the reality that in a crisis such as this, it is typically strong men pulling terrified victims from danger.

Make no mistake about it, saving lives is "toxic masculinity" because it reflects something built into our genes.  Save women, and you make it possible to pass on our genes, if not with that woman, then for others of your tribe to do so.

All Cultures Are Equal in Value

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistani police have arrested 25 members of an informal village council accused of ordering the rape of a 16-year-old girl as revenge for her brother's alleged sexual assault of another girl.

The Supreme Court also requested a report on the case, which echoed a notorious case from 2002 in which another teenager was gang-raped on a local council's order.

"A total of 29 people were involved in this ghastly crime, and we have 25 of them in our custody," Multan City Police Officer Ahsan Younus told Reuters by telephone on Thursday.

Earlier this month, a local council in the southern city of Multan was called after a family accused a 16-year-old boy of raping a 13-year-old neighbor.

The council ruled that the sister of the boy should be handed over to the victim's brother to be raped. The punishment was carried out on July 17 after her family handed the girl over.

I am sure that some SJW feminist will insist that this is common in the West as well, but I cannot think of an example.

Banning the Star of David: Evidence of Progressive Tolerance

After the scandal involving the ejection of Jewish women carrying Star of David pride flags at Chicago’s Dyke March on June 28, a sister organization in the city has announced that it will follow suit by banning “Zionist displays” from its upcoming protest against sexual violence and “rape culture.”

The ban was announced this week on social media by the organizers of SlutWalk Chicago — part of an international protest movement that “fights rape culture, victim blaming, and slut shaming.” The Chicago event is set to take place on August 12.

“We still stand behind Dyke March Chicago’s decision to remove the Zionist contingent from their event, & we won’t allow Zionist displays at ours,” the organizers tweeted last Sunday — beginning several days of exchanges with other users over the policy. These were distinguished by the organizers’ continued insistence that anti-Zionism is a legitimate progressive belief, and that any linkage with antisemitism should be dismissed as a discrediting tactic.

 I can remember when Zionism was a heavily socialist movement.  I confess SlutWalk taking this on makes perfect sense, as much as any SlutWalk does.  You want women to be treated as equals and not just as sex objects?  So dress like sluts; this tells rapists that you want it,  This would be like protesting stereotypes of gays as promiscuous by organizing events in public restrooms.

Imagine if the Sexes Were Reversed and Some Other Verb Was Used

But a picture shows that when signing one copy of her latest book, 'Fight Like a Girl', Ms Ford wrote to a fan: 'Have you killed any men today? And if not, why not?'
