When it boots if there is an external display connected it works. Fn+F5 brings it up on laptop display. Disconnect the external display, laptop screen goes black. Reconnect it comes back.
UPDATE: I could just buy one more external monitor; they are cheap on the used market. Instead I bought a new 23" to replace the 20" I had. Now I will have have two 23" HD monitors.

Your laptop screen is set as secondary. Make it the main.
ReplyDeleteFirst thing I tried. This is even when the BIOS starts up.
ReplyDeleteIs there a switch/button on the keyboard that sets this position?
ReplyDeleteSupposedly Fn+F5, but it only puts stuff on the laptop display if external display is plugged in.
