I think this was 12.5mm eyepiece projection ?(ISO 400)

 which may explain the graininess.

And here was the video:

I learned some new things about my camera as well.

Why ISO 400?  8" is not a lot of aperture and with 12.5mm eyepiece projection that is not a lot of light.  Going to 400 gave me a recognizable image in LiveView mode.  I also discovered that video mode gave me an ISO range from 100 to 3200.  (Still mode goes to 57600.)

I have thought of going to a higher resolution camera.  Instead of 20.2 Mp, perhaps 40 Mp which would allow me to zoom in without having to use so much magnification.   Just crop the image.

This is the first time I have used the PhotoEditor on my Android.
This picture was taken through an 8" f/7 reflector my father and I built in 1970 or so.  This is why I needed ISO 400.  I will use my 17.5" f/4.5 next.  That gathers 4.78x the light so ISO 100 should be sufficient and less grainy.  Or perhaps a 25mm eyepiece which should give 2x the light?

Have You Used Singulair (Montelukast) for Several Years?

No I am not working for an ambulance chaser.  The FDA has put a black box warning on this very effective allergy medicine for causing depression, aggression, irritability and suicidal thoughts.

The Next Time Democrats Want a Gun Compromise

Offer combined firearms owner/voter ID card .  You have to be 18, U.S. citizen, mot otherwise disqualified (most state prohibit ex-felons from voting).  If you are not sane and responsible enough to own a gun, why would we trust you to vote? "But those are different."  Hilarity results.

I Would Not Try to Build a Go-To Telescope Clock Drive

But a conventional sidereal clock drive does not seem so hard.  I believe it needs to turn once per sidereal day (23h 56m 4.091s and yes I had to look that up) or 1 revolution per 86,164 seconds.  You obviously do not start with a 3600 rpm motor and eight zillion gear reductions.  I found a .6 RPM 12 VDC motor on Amazon.  Now I just need to find a series of gears to do a 2393 reduction in speed.

Violent Country Plus Loosened Gun Laws Yields?

6/26/22 Wall Street Journal reports that Brazil's Trump reduced their gun control laws in 2018 and murder rates fell 27.8%. Who woulda thunk it?

Happy Independence Day

For your amusement/amazement, a surprising rendition of "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere."  I have read that the singer found his patriotism increased by the project:

People Are Waking Up

University of Chicago poll:
"It found that a majority of Americans of various political parties believe the government is “corrupt and rigged against everyday people like me,” including 73 percent of voters who describe themselves as a “strong Republican.”

"It also found (and this has been reported widely) that 28 percent of voters, including 37 percent who have guns in their homes, agree that “it may be necessary at some point soon for citizens to take up arms against the government.” [emphasis added]"

If even .1% of that 37% did so, it would be 118,000 people.  If done as lone wolf attacks, the government would cease to function.  How many government agencies would still have employees willing to go to an office if on any given day 1000 would be facing sniper attack.  With few exceptions, government agencies sit in buildings in urban areas, where sniper hides are easily constructed.   Even one revolutionary with a bolt action .308 could fire five shots and make the building no longer useful for its function for the day.  Shoot, then scoot.  Admittedly most bolt action rifles are not takedown so not easy to move around surreptitiously.   AR-15s, because of the front takedown pins, fit into a standard guitar case.

This is not a call for action, just a reminder that if the fascists do not stop soon, they may have a government that has nothing left but martial law.  Lockdowns for COVID-19 will generate for less ill will than the sort of heavy handed tactics required to win a war like this.
