Does anyone besides me think there is nothing about a person cannot tell what sex they are perhaps indicates crazy? Does anyone want to make any wagers on how Robin voted?
Someone who is genuinely transgendered knows exactly what sex he or she is - and that the sex of his or her body is the other. Gender identity is wired in the brain. It develops independently from the sex of the rest of the body, and in extremely rare cases doesn't match. I've known people who were thus transgendered, and they weren't otherwise crazy.
ReplyDeleteGender dysphoria became a "fashionable" diagnosis, and massively overdiagnosed. Many of these false diagnoses were of people with other mental disorders. When subjected to the stress of "gender transition", some of these have become deranged and occasionally violent. So have some people who were pretty much normal before the diagnosis.
Considering the number of bad diagnoses made (tens of thousands), the number of such violent incidents is actually small.
