Yesterday

The movie is the most fun that I have had in a movie theater in a long time.  Worldwide electrical shutdown.  Aspiring songwriter/musician is hit by a bus during the few seconds of shutdown.  (Aspiring songwriter, but not any good at it.)  In the morning he wakes in a hospital, with serious head injuries and two teeth knocked out.  Somehow, the Beatles never happened.  A few other items are missing, some not real losses like cigarettes, some utterly critical: why live in a world where the only cola is Pepsi?

Anyway, he starts to reconstruct the Beatles songs as best he can from memory.  Can any of you honestly remember all the lyrics of "Eleanor Rigby"?  He, of course, rockets to international fame and fortune.  But there is the girl that has loved him for 20 years and was his first manager...

Sweet, romantic, interesting parallel universe idea, and nothing that would be inappropriate for small children.  And the Pakistani-British actor does a pretty decent job on the songs.  Go out and see it, now!
