Cold Out There

Thermal underwear.  2 pairs of pants.  2 t-shirts. My insulated snow boots.  2 layers of socks. Watch cap. Thick warm gloves.  Parka. Ready.

Of course, you do not want thick gloves when handling eyepieces, and the metal barrel ones really remind of how rapidly metal sucks warmth out of your skin.

I was reminded of how much I have forgotten since 2014.  I used to know where to find the Ring Nebula between the two southernmost stars of Lyra, and how to find M13, because I did not have digital setting circles which have suddenly become  not useful.  (Equipment failure, or pilot error?  Not sure.)

I'm tired and back inside, trudging through 1871's murders again.
