I was able to replace my Compaq NC6000 that I use for the CNC mill quite cheaply. I still have the one whose display appears only briefly in red. These instructions seem way too easy for a part available on eBay for $25.
The instructions are about right but don't really indicate how fragile the plastic frame around the screen is. They always show that it pops right off but generally it takes a bit of prying with a thin, wide, plastic blade. Too thick and it won't get in between the parts, too narrow or made of metal and it will distort the frame.
The connectors are also extremely fragile.
It's not impossible. I've replace a number of screens in Dells and HPs. It's just very delicate work.
Keep track of which screw goes in each hole. There are likely to be several different screw sizes and lengths which are easy to mix-up. My usual approach of just put them all together in a saucer as i remove them is not recommended

I replaced the screen in my daughters lapdog after it broke. It was a little fiddly, but not bad.
