I Toyed With This Idea Some Years Ago As a Business Way to Own Huge Telescopes

Someone runs a telescope for hire business in Britain, including they bring it to you for the evening.  A darn good idea if are unsure if you want to plunk down big money for a 12-inch reflector.

    Do they turn you loose with it, or does someone stay to ensure you don't crash it somehow?
