Murderers weren't white; weapons weren't guns.

  1. Oh man, I remember these murders. The two killers wiped out two families in the Richmond area, the Harvey family (which you listed) and the Baskerville/Tucker family. Sadly enough, Ashley Baskerville was found to be an accomplice to the Harvey Family murders.

This struck me in several ways. First, whole family murders are very rare. Two in the same time frame was terrifying. Second, The Harvey family were movers and swingers in the Richmond area. I went to college there and Carytown was where I spent a lot of my free time (and money). My friends and I always went into the World of Mirth because it was a very eclectic shop full of fun and interesting things. It was shocking when they showed Kathryn Harvey's face on the news because, while I didn't know her personally, I'd seen her at the shop. A number of my friends personally knew Bryan Harvey.

There is so much more that I'd like to write, but I'm already rambling so I'll cut it short here.

  2. Bad news: American history is full of entire family murders. My new book has more than a hundred. Even a cult "the Church of the Sacrifice," that murdered dozens of families 1910-1925, usually with the family's own ax.
