Elk Gets The Final Revenge

VERNAL, Utah (AP) -- An elk slain in Utah had its last revenge when its antler punctured the neck of the hunter who'd brought him down.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports the 51-year-old hunter snagged the elk Saturday east of Vernal.
Uintah County Undersheriff John Laursen says the man was trying to roll the 600- to 700-pound animal over when the antler stabbed him behind his jaw.
The hunter survived, but somewhere, the spirit of the elk is laughing.

  2. Many years ago I believe Paul Harvey told of a hunter who shot a many point buck above him. The buck jumped and landed on the hunter, impaling him. Despite his grevious injuries, the hunter managed to extricate himself and haul the buck to his vehicle some considerable distance away.

When asked if he planned on eating the buck, his response was, and I quote, "Every last scrap of it!"

  3. Robert Heinlein reported in (I think) Expanded Universe that this was how his Grandfather died at age 95, only Grand-dad tried to wrestle and stab a deer trapped on a frozen pond, when it gored him to death.
