Some have pretty decent English; others are obviously not native speakers. When someone supports Putin's de-Nazification program by using the Mongol Turk Khazar claim about the Jews (a favorite neo-Nazi claim) it is tragically funny. And yes, we need to clean up our own country's democracy. But claiming the Ukraine is the most corrupt nation in Europe as why Putin needed to invade?
I guess that I am not important enough for Russian social termites.
I know you're not a Twitter fan, but I'd recommend following Stephen McIntyre there for an intelligent take on Ukraine/Russia that would challenge your assessment of what's happening and why it has happened. If you're not familiar with McIntyre, he's a statistician who has taken apart and exposed a lot of bad climate science. His work on incompetent/phony climatology reminds me of your demolition of fraudulent gun control scholarship.
ReplyDeleteMy impression is that his political views are generally similar to yours, although he's probably less of a social conservative.

I have heard of McIntyre. Whatever Ukraine's fault, they are not leaving bodies tied behind their backs and shot. Or using mobile crematoria to hide their crimes.
DeleteWhatever Ukraine's fault, they are not leaving bodies tied behind their backs and shot.
DeleteI've seen multiple videos of Ukrainian soldiers shooting Russian POWs. Not just photos of bodies. NYT published a story yesterday about one such incident.
Artillerymen were declared war criminals for targeting civilians; also some Russian saboteurs have been shot as spies.
DeleteOr using mobile crematoria to hide their crimes.
DeleteAre you talking about this? The video/pics I see are all of this unit, which isn't in Ukraine.
Artillerymen were declared war criminals for targeting civilians...
DeleteThat's not how it works. One side doesn't get to "declare" someone a war criminal and then summarily execute him.
Speaking of targeting civilians, the missile that hit a train station in Kramatorsk has turned out almost certainly to have been fired by Ukraine's military, based on trajectory and serial number. But of course, Ukraine and the US blame Russia for this attack.
You would already know this if you were reading McIntyre. Recommend again that you follow him.
Their reasoning was sloppy and broad. Executing enemy soldiers not in uniform is well-established. I do not do social media. If someone has something important to say, instead of seeking a criticism-immune platform, they can blog it.
DeleteI can see how a train station could qualify as a military target, unlike an apartment building.
DeleteThe Moscow Times was my source about the crematoria. I doubt they would still be operating if this was false.
DeleteIf someone has something important to say, instead of seeking a criticism-immune platform...
DeleteMcIntyre responds to critics all the time on Twitter. No idea what "criticism-immune platform" could possibly mean.
I can see how a train station could qualify as a military target...
DeleteYou don't seem to be following the point. Kramatorsk is in Ukraine-controlled territory. No Russian troops there, no combat in immediate vicinity.
The Moscow Times was my source about the crematoria. I doubt they would still be operating if this was false.
DeleteThe Moscow Times is an online, English-language publication headquartered in Amsterdam. I don't think the tyrant Putin can shut them down.
I did not know that.
DeleteKramatorsk might qualify as a military target for Russia because of train transport of weapons.
DeleteTwitter has a history of suppressing differing points of view.
DeleteKramatorsk might qualify as a military target for Russia because of train transport of weapons.
DeleteThe best available evidence points to the conclusion that Ukraine did this. Of course, Ukraine accused Russia of committing a war crime by targeting these civilians, and US and UK media echoed this charge.
Twitter has a history of suppressing differing points of view.
DeleteTwitter has been suppressing only pro-Russian, anti-Zelensky posts. Twitter corp leftists are on your side (in re war aims, not censorship which you obviously oppose).
I prefer longform articles and blog posts, too, but a lot of the best discussion on a broad range of political topics takes place on Twitter despite the censors' best efforts.
What evidence suggests Ukraine fired on its own people.
DeleteI disregard Twitter because the 280 character limit is rather like long bumper stickers; it is good for sharing links and expressing outrage.
If pro-Russian content is being censored (as I have heard) how is McIntyre getting around it?
DeleteWhat evidence suggests Ukraine fired on its own people.
Delete- Serial number visible on engine wreckage of missile is in range of numbers of Tochka-U missiles that apparently belong to Ukraine, not Russia.
- Engine wreckage is about 60 meters West-Southwest of warhead impact, which indicates launch from Ukraine-controlled territory West-Southwest of Kramatorsk.
- Apparent trajectory of missile based on alignment of engine wreckage (heavy tail supposedly would land before light head) also supports West-Southwest launch point.
- US tracks ballistic missile launches, but won't release information about launch point/path of this missile. Surprising because Pentagon blamed Russia for the strike.
- Pro-Ukraine media in West initially echoed Zelensky's accusation that this missile strike was a war crime, but coverage dropped off when inconvenient information about serial number and apparent trajectory surfaced.
- Writing on missile ("For the children") is similar to what Azov/Right Sector have written on artillery shells.
Moon of Alabama blog posted a couple articles about Kramatorsk, which is where I got some of this info:
- Ukrainian Tochka-U Missile Killed Dozens At Kramatorsk Train Station
- More Evidence That Ukraine Fired The Missile Which Killed Dozens In Kramatorsk
If pro-Russian content is being censored (as I have heard) how is McIntyre getting around it?
DeleteThey aren't censoring everything pro-Russian, nor are they even censoring consistenly, but as you've heard the general trend is to suspend accounts that cross some indeterminate pro-Russian "disinformation" line.
McIntyre has a pretty measured "on the one hand, on the other hand" approach which probably helps him escape deletion. Although, having said that, I think he overplays the significance of "neo-Nazi" elements fighting against Russia.
Also, I don't think it's quite right to describe McIntyre as "pro-Russian." Maybe more accurate to say he thinks the post-Yanukovych regime is a creature of the US deep state. I don't recall him ever writing that he approves of the invasion.
From where did the serial number claim come? If the Ukrainians did this they would not release the serial numbers. If the Russians did this their serial number claim would be suspect.
DeleteIt is entirely possible that a Ukrainian missile fired at the Russians fell short. If so, Ukraine would have reason to blame Russians.

DeleteSerial number of Kramatorsk missile is plainly visible in news photos. Serial numbers of other Ukraine Tochka-U missiles are visible in photos that were public before war.
It is entirely possible that a Ukrainian missile fired at the Russians fell short.
Missile range is 120km and it landed nowhere near any Russian military. See map. Scale at bottom right reads 80km/50m.
If so, Ukraine would have reason to blame Russians.
No, that isn't valid cause for Ukraine and US to accuse Russia of targeting civilians with a missile launched by Ukraine.
It tends towards confirmation of the reasonable suspicion that this is standard operating procedure for Ukraine's post Yanukovich "liberal democracy." University of Ottawa professor Ivan Katchanovski has compiled evidence that the targeted killings of Maidan protesters (2014) was carried out by snipers firing from protester-controlled buildings. These murders were blamed on the government and served as a principal moral argument for driving Yanukovich from power.
