Suddenly, My PC No Longer Talks to the Internet
Network troubleshooter fails because Diagnostic Policy Services is not running and Windows cannot seem to restart it. This page says System Restore fixes this sometimes and after I finish a full backup I will try that next. I notice my most recent restore point is this morning, shortly before everything went south.

No Windows troubleshoot process has EVER worked for me. You seem to always do such massive steps to resolve minor problems. Did you try using ping first? Lack of Internet is often actually a problem with DNS. Try "ping mit.edu" and then "ping 8.8.8.8", and see what you get.
ReplyDeleteOpen the command prompt with admin privileges, and enter:
ReplyDeletenetsh int ip reset reset.txt
That will reinitialize the network interefaces. If that doesn't work, then yeah, you have to reinstall.
Take two reboots and call me in the morning.
