Boeing is now reported to be planning to recall their retirees to deal with a major backup of unfinished 737 transports. Of course these are the techs and assemblers, not the engineers who are also reported in short supply. No one is also mentioning that Lockheed is adding 600 techs and mechanics to help deal with increased production of the F-35 and Northrop has been recruiting all year for its B-21 bomber project. In short Boeing may find its retirees are already employed with someone else: and Boeing was still laying people off as recently as the fall of 2017.
ReplyDeleteNo comments about the foreign workers, who are still being arrested for stealing technology for China, or that special work schedules (overtime without the pay) for the new young workers was to deal with these problems two years ago.
