McCain had a lifetime rating of 81 from the American Conservative Union. The highest current Democrat Senator is rated 30.
His ratings for the last two years were 57 (2017) and 88 (2016).
In 2017 the highest Democrat was rated 8 (and he was the only one above 4). In 2016 the highest Democrat was rated 27 (the next four were 15, 13, 12, 12, and the rest were all 8 or less).
IOW, McCain was often unreliable, but he was on the right side - which no Democrats are.
