My Pentax KS2 has a wifi mode, but it only seems to talk to cellphones. (Who has PCs anymore, besides me?) When I press the Wifi button the Pentax SSID appears, but it is a server, not a device that can actually talk to my LAN. Does anyone have suggestions for how to retrieve files from that server?

Wifi mode isn't designed to connect to a home network. It is designed to let you connect a computer or phone anf copy the files, much like you would do with a cable.
ReplyDeleteI know. Just hoping for a workaround: an application to retrieve files from the Pentax's server.
ReplyDeletethe application is what you linked: http://www.wificommanderpentax.com
ReplyDeleteUse you laptop to connect to the wifi lan that your Pentax KS2 has established, after this start the app. Enjoy.
Andrea: tried that first. The Pentax creates its own network with its own network server; the camera is not visible as a device to other devices on my local LAN.
ReplyDeleteYou have to disconnect your laptop from the home/work wifi lan and connect to the PENTAX_[XXXXX] wifi lan
ReplyDeleteAndrea: Just disabled the Ethernet adapter; nothing changes.
