Why Focusing On The Guns Misses the Point
Pipe bombs or pressure cooker bombs are easy to make and very destructive. Yet Obama isn't proposing background checks on pipe, pressure cookers, or gunpowder for those on the no-fly list. Another problem is that there care many alternative methods of promoting terror. Every Wal-Mart (and many other stores) sell the ingredients for making poison gas. For $1000 (about what an AR-15 and 1000 rounds of 5.56mm costs), I could unleash a cloud that would kill dozens to hundreds and permanently injure hundreds to thousands more. Obama is trying to distract attention from his failure to fight ISIS and defend America.

I remember wandering through a big box home store, and seeing a couple of hundred pounds of (intended for green sand water softeners), sitting on the shelf in 5-pound bottles.
ReplyDeleteIt struck me as very dangerous, having that much of a strong oxidizer sitting together, out on an open shelf. I mentioned it to the manager, though I don't know if he did anything about it.
I'd always thought oxidizers belonged on a spill tray, inside a chemical storage cabinet, separated from reducing agents, flammables, and combustibles.
Still, there was enough there to make quite a bomb.
I've been wondering why we haven't been hearing/reading more about the pipe bombs in the San Bernadino incident. We don't know what explosive was used, what the detonators were and how well they were built. All of that is information that would speak volumes about the level of support these creeps were getting.
