I installed an older version of VMWare Player and when starting various versions of Linux, it complained that the host supports AMD-V but it is disabled. I could find nothing in the BOS settings for AMD-V, so I reset to the default settings. Then I reinstalled VMWare Player 16.1 and everything works.
