It pains me to say this, but the wealth of the billionaires needs to be castrated to have a republic. Properly invested (which they can easily do), a billion dollars produces $100,000,000 a year in income. That's $279,370 per day. That is more than enough to live on, I think. Even rather comfortably. I think pushing for a tax on net wealth might well impress upon the billionaires the need to stop messing with our elections and public debate. Besides, it would be fun to watch the Democrats defend the New Gilded Age and why billionaires need defense.

This seems like a very timely idea however the Democrats would load up such a bill with so many loopholes so that the Zuckerbergs and Bezos would escape taxation but the Clayton Cramers of the nation would see their modest wealth taxed away.
