But both the notebook and the desktop only have SD readers--so they do not see the 16 GB card at all. I have ordered an SDHC to USB converter--at $2 each, I can splurge, and buy two.
The older HP digital camera that I have is also SD only, but limiting myself to the 1 GB SD card that is in it is not a problem. I guess that I can use the second 16 GB card in the Soundfly FM transmitter, and be sure that I will never run out of space. The 1 GB SD card works just fine in the Soundfly, and makes the package a bit less bulky.
You might want to see if there's a firmware update, many SD card readers only needed that to handle SDHC.
