Not sure how to handle this. Clearly, sanctions are making Iran's thuggish leaders afraid. But a military strike on Iran would likely bring most Iranians behind the thugs, which is doubtless the goal. A continuing of sanctions is in order.
The embassy is U.S. territory. Using deadly force in self-defense is lawful and I suspect would end this provocation pretty quickly. There would be the usual screeching from anti-American forces in Europe and the Democratic Party, but it would certainly cement votes in 2020 in the same way that Carter's utterly useless dithering in 1979-80 guaranteed a Reagan victory.
