Female Genital Mutilation

A very depressing article from one of the Canadian papers about the failure of the now progressive, feminist government to take action to prevent or punish FGM.  The article does correctly identify that this is not specifically an Islamic practice, but I suspect the desire not to offend Muslims,  an important part of the progressive coalition, or appear insufficiently multicultural, is probably the reason.

  1. FGM is illegal in many states, including Oregon. But some states are still reluctant to come out "strongly" against the practice.

Note: 163.207 (Female genital mutilation) was enacted into law by the Legislative Assembly but was not added to or made a part of ORS chapter 163 or any series therein by legislative action. See Preface to Oregon Revised Statutes for further explanation.
