Today;s Surprise: I Woke Up
When I fell asleep last night, I was praying for a quick and painless death. Brilinta an anti-clotting agent gives me nausea and diarrhea. There must be an alternative.
Hang in there! I'm a lymphoma and carcinoma survivor and diabetic. I'm on Neurontin and many other things. If I could afford it, I'd take Lyrica. Chronic pain is a bitch, but can be dealt with. Don't just suffer needlessly, demand help from your doctor! Take Care, gfa
I was put on Brilinta after my latest stent. I've been one it since February, and I need to stay on it for a year. It isn't causing any side effects except of course a constantly bloody nose, but that stopped after 3 months. Are you sure it's the Brilinta?
Check with you MD regarding Xarelto(rivaroxaban). It was approved in November 2011 to prevent a stroke from atrial fibrillation. It had been approved earlier to lower the risk of blood clots after hip and knee replacements.
In November 2012, the FDA also approved it to treat deep vein thrombosis, (blood clots that occur usually in the lower leg and thigh) and pulmonary embolism (the condition that results when a blood clot from a vein breaks off and travels to an artery in the lungs and blocks blood flow.)
Also check on Pradaxa. It's known as the German Death Pill because of the *two* black box warnings. It's a great blood thinner but if you get a cut and can't put pressure on it, that's bad. Don't take it if you're at risk for internal bleeding.
I was on it for over two years for Arrythmia and the only 'problem' was my feet looking like zombie feet.

Brilinta is an antiplatelet drug, not an anticoagulant in the same way as Xarelto. An alternative in the same drug class would be Clopidogrel (Plavix).
According to this review (which is two years old), it's better than Plavix for CV death and MI, but not for stroke.
Hang in there!

For my last stent I was put on effient instead of brilinta. I'm not sure why it was changed. Maybe your can ask about effient.

Still, if you're praying for death, there's no sense in taking a drug that's only marginally better than alternatives.
Xaralto is the one I'm using. It doesn't interfere with my daily dose of glucose testing.
