I am still several months out from moving. Theoretically, you can mail long guns to yourself, even c/o X, as long as X does not open the gun and hands it over to you when you get there. The handgun mailing ban repeal is in the public comment stage but should be complete by the time that I move.

I haven't shipped guns... but I've lost enough stuff sent by way of USPS that it remains my last choice for anything important.
ReplyDeleteMy only USPs loss was a PC running the astonishingly useless Windows 8 (the metasized cell phone UI that I wanted to use while flat on my back after my 2014 stroke) returned to Amazon, that I insured and when postal inspectors went looking for it, it never got out of the mailing post office. Full refund.
DeleteUSPS insurance is relatively inexpensive and highly recommended.
