We have seen some spectacular examples: the guy with the Glock in Indian last year; the guy in a church who fired one shot in a church across a dozen rows of seats. But for most people, this incident in Houston is the most realistic. 1/6/23 KHOU:
HOUSTON — A customer at Ranchito Taqueria shot and killed a man who robbed the restaurant in southwest Houston late Thursday night, according to the Houston Police Department.
It happened just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday at the restaurant on S. Gessner near Bellaire Boulevard.
Houston police said the armed man in a mask came inside the restaurant, demanding money and wallets from customers. However, as he was leaving, one of those customers shot the suspect.
In the video, you can see as the armed (with a plastic pistol) robber passes his table, one of the victims draws and fires at a distance of six feet or less. Of course the Twitterati are decrying his actions, claiming that shooting an armed robber is not justified; he might be an "undercover officer."
An "undercover officer" stealing my wallet is a thief, and deserves to be dealt with appropriately.

ReplyDeleteAs the regrettably not yet late Bill Cosby said, portraying Noah hearing messages from god some sixty three years ago, "Riiiiiiiiiight."
From the video, you could make an argument that the perp was on his way out and no longer posed a threat. Of course, we couldn't hear what was said, or have enough resolution to judge the perp's mood, so it may well be that there's a solid argument that the shooting was justified.
ReplyDeleteWhat I do know, beyond a doubt, is that simply having lawyers argue will prove expensive.
