Low Speed Always a Win

I was cutting a 4.25" x 3" rectangle of CFC and once again the 1/8" carbide emdmill without a flat for the endmill holder to lock down dropped loose, I think because I was cutting too fast, provoking vibration.  (25 inches/minute at .001" cuts.)  Fortunately, it had completed the last cut when it fell out.  This time 1 inch/minute.  Slow, but I can safely leave it running and do something else.  I am tempted to mill a flat on the shank.  Apparently, small carbide endmills usually lack a flat.  It is possible to make a flat with a diamond tool.    I do not have one.  I believe you can cut carbide with carbide.  At worst, I break the endmill that needs the flat.  These are not hideously expensive and arrive next day.
