How Dangerous is China?
I was watching a video earlier about how Chinese weapon systems including fighter aircraft and SAM systems have demonstrated complete uselessness in the recent India Pakistan War and the Israel-U.S -Iran War. I wonder if a confrontation over Taiwan may expose Chinese corruption and self-delusion at levels that makes the Russian Army look good. This might be good except that Xi Xi Ping might respond to profound embarrassment by going nuclear against us.
I hope so. But it's the protection of the US people and Constitution, so we must honor the threat and consider if they have the intent, and ability to do what they say: They do.
ReplyDeleteFactoids:
ReplyDeleteDuring the Spanish Civil War, Italian biplane fighters consistently defeated Soviet-mode monoplane fighters with superior maneuverability in dogfights. The Italians went on to build the fastest, sturdiest, best armed biplane fighters ever. Then during WW II, those biplanes were easy prey for fast monoplane fighters using "boom and zoom" tactics instead of dogfighting.
Also:
During the SCW, Soviet-made T-26 tanks easily defeated German Panzer Is and Italian tankettes. The Nationalists put up a large cash bounty for captured T-26s, and formed a unit of them. Then during WW II, German Panzer IIs and Panzer IIIs destroyed thousands of BT-5s during the 1941 blitz of the western USSR.
So what happens in a "laboratory war" may not be what happens when things get "hot" for major powers.
Excellent points.
