Most Favored Nation Drug Prices

Trump is demanding that pharmaceutical companies charge Americans the price that they sell the drug in other countries--actually the lowest price globally.  5/12/25 CNN raises a legitimate question.  Under what authority can Trump force them to do so?

It appears that Trump tried this on his first term through a process over which the federal government clearly has authority (Medicare reimbursement) but the Democrats stopped him:
Trump’s effort to establish a “Most Favored Nation” rule for certain drugs in Medicare during his first term was quickly blocked by federal courts for procedural reasons before being rescinded by then-President Joe Biden in 2021. The new executive order goes far beyond that measure since it is not limited to Medicare nor to a certain number of drugs.

Of course,  Big Pharma owns the Democrats.   Next time your leftist friends whine about Trump looking out for the rich, remind them about this.
