One More Data Request

I need something stainless steel that is round and threaded on the inside 1/4"-20.  Again, it will be epoxied into a hole in carbon fiber.  The screw needs to go through this fitting in 3/8" thick carbon fiber.  It will be pressing against another component so a spacer will not do the trick.

I am not finding anything.  Becaus I only need one, I will cut a 3/8" long piece of 1/2" diameter stainless rod, square it on the lathe, then drill and tap it 1/4""-20.

Excellent replies!  Thank you all.

  3. Not round, but could you use a couple of 1/4-20 stainless hex nuts, since they will be epoxied in place?

    1. I thought about that. These other suggestions are better, however.

  5. There are threaded inserts for wood.. 1/4-20 interior thread, beefy exterior wood thread, but they are all more than 3/8 inch long and you have buy a pack. The length of 5/8 means you would have to mill it to length.

If you only need one, and you have the stock or scrap that will work, your plan may be best...
