Another Statue
The National Park Service is "rehabilitating" a park in Philadelphia by removing a statue of William Penn. Apparently he is offensive to Indians. This is the guy who insisted that settlers buy land from the Indians. He was also an early promoter of religious tolerance and opponent of the overuse of the death penalty.
He also always advocated not jumping automatically to kill the Indians whenever something went wrong, which did not endear him at all to the whites in Western Pennsylvania.
