Gender Reassignment as a Solution

Long-Term Follow-Up of Transsexual Persons Undergoing Sex Reassignment Surgery: Cohort Study in Sweden

Results

The overall mortality for sex-reassigned persons was higher during follow-up (aHR 2.8; 95% CI 1.8–4.3) than for controls of the same birth sex, particularly death from suicide (aHR 19.1; 95% CI 5.8–62.9). Sex-reassigned persons also had an increased risk for suicide attempts (aHR 4.9; 95% CI 2.9–8.5) and psychiatric inpatient care (aHR 2.8; 95% CI 2.0–3.9). Comparisons with controls matched on reassigned sex yielded similar results. Female-to-males, but not male-to-females, had a higher risk for criminal convictions than their respective birth sex controls.

  1. Thank you. At last something to reply to the useful idiots who reply with the parrot-phrase, "Rather a live daughter rather than a dead son."
Much Winston Churchill after Chamberlain returned from Munich with a piece of paper and the promise of "Peace in Our Time", who said "You were given the choice between war and dishonour. You chose dishonour, and you will have war."

Mothers have a choice between sorrow and insanity. They chose insanity, and they will have sorrow."

I suppose the real question here, is why are so many mothers willing to sacrifice their children on the altar of Munchhausen by Proxy?

    1. Desperation to make an upset kid feel good about itself, instead of saying, "You will grow out of it."

  2. Are the control groups people diagnosed with GID who do not transition? If not, this result is comparable to noting that people who have undergone cardiac bypass surgery have lower life expectancies than those who don't - without matching for cardiac illness.

As with any treatment for illness, a favorable result is not necessarily health, it is less illness.

    1. The control group are people who are not confused about their sex. It would be interesting to compare those with GID who transitioned with those who did not, but even this comparison shows that those who transitioned still have a higher suicide rate and higher crime rate than those who are not confused.
