Another Victory

Atkinson v. Garland (7th Cir. 2023) directs the district court to rehear Atkinson's conviction for felon in possession of a gun.  Atkinson pled guilty to felony mail fraud in 1998 and has kept his nose (or at least his criminal record) cleans since then.  The Court of Appeals did a vacate and remand and pretty clearly told the district court that Bruen changed everything.

I have no idea what color Atkinson is but I know that 25 percent of blacks have felony convictions. I suspect many are non-violent offenses dating back manyvyears.  Lots of people do stupid things when young and learn from the mistakes.
