If you have ever worked in a high-value production environment you may have used RAID. The disk controller performs all operations to two identical disks. If one fails, or the controller detects a discrepancy, it either corrects the bad copy or at least informs you.
At least starting in Windows 10, Microsoft has added a feature called Storage Spaces:
Users can utilize this technology to group multiple drives together into a storage pool and then use the capacity of the pool to create virtual drives named storage spaces. This technology can help users to protect their data from drive failure through mirroring data and extend storage space through adding drivers to PC.
It looks like a way to get many of the benefits of RAID. I am tempted to buy two 4TB SSDs and use Storage Spaces.
