Stone Countertop as Shielding
I mentioned their value as shielding from outside radiation sources on other roofs or trees but this counter
(under which our incredibly sturdy kitchen table will fit)
also provides partial shielding from roof radiation.
Have you looked into the inverse square law? There is a reason why they tell you to get to the most interior part of the house or a large building. If you treat the solid exterior walls as a linear source if you can get 10 feet from the outside, then radiation should be 1/100th of what it is outdoors. Assuming uniform fallout intensity, concentration, deposition, house geometry. and that the house isn't contaminated with fallout.
