I Have No Idea Who the Big Shot Was

But it is likely an interesting story.

Hot Springs, Ark. (1933)

08/15/1933: A lawyer confessed to poisoning “a man, his wife, and their two children because the man ‘knew too much.’”  A third child had seen the lawyer adding the strychnine to the grape juice, warned his parents, and refused the drink.  The lawyer had hired the father “to steal papers from the Akron prosecuting attorney which involved a ‘big shot’” the lawyer’s firm was defending.  The lawyer attempted suicide after confessing.

Category: public

Suicide: no

Cause: other

Weapon: poison[1]

  1. More to this story here. The only survivor was a 4-year old boy who told officers he saw Shank put something in the grape juice and thus wouldn't drink it. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/news/local/2013/08/11/local-history-kenmore-lawyer-gains/10606358007/
