restaurant of the future
One of the starting points for progressive discontent of our society is the poorly paid, usually uninsured service workers: waitresses, bus boys, cooks. There are robotic burger chefs already. Why not robotic busboys? A robot can sweep a table clear easily enough if all dishes and cutlery are unbreakable, and disinfect the table as well. Some things might require markers to identify edges of tables and stationary items (salt and pepper shaker holders). The robot needs to bounce a laser off the far wall to verify the booth is empty. From there to the dish pit is easy. Dish pit is not intrinsically hard.
