Those California Refugees Are Becoming a Problem
They are bringing their earthquakes with them! The whole house shook, light fixtures wayed. It was the strongest that I have felt since the Loma Prieta earthquake and the first I have experienced in Idaho. And an aftershock a few minutes later. Richter 6.5.
How far are you from the epicenter?
ReplyDeleteAlso - is your home on rock or soil - which is probably a more important factor?
Maybe 120 miles. We are on soil.
ReplyDeleteWe are about 120 miles from epicenter and felt house bounce up and down and then the swaying started. It was over in 20 seconds. We thought we were finished with earthquakes after CA and OR, but now we find that Idaho has regular quakes in that area as it is a major slip fault sitting directly over the Yellowstone magma chamber. Who knew?
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of California refugees, I've read that the earlier waves of Californians moving to other states brought their liberal voting patterns with them and turned many states blue or purple. The current California emigrants seem to be much more conservative and are making the areas they move to redder.
