are there any adults voting there?
9/20/19 KGW:
PORTLAND, Ore. — The City of Portland banned urinals in the remodeled Portland Building. Urinals, for those who have never been in a men’s bathroom, are porcelain receptors without seats or lids that allow men to quickly relieve themselves. The total remodel will cost taxpayers $195,000,000. A spokeswoman said she did not have a break out on how much the bathroom work cost.
Finally, in a place constantly lecturing us about protecting the environment (you know, plastic straws etc) this will waste a tremendous amount of water. I checked and most urinals take as little as a pint of water per flush (1/8 gallon). Even "modern" toilets flush with more than a gallon of water. Some "no flush" urinals use no water at all. Multiply this by hundreds of thousands of flushes a year. Figure out how this makes sense.
TBF, Portland rarely has any problems with water supply; we're supplied by reservoirs and plentiful rainfall.
At a million flushes a year, the delta would be ... irrelevant even on the scale of the in-town storage reservoirs, totalling about 200 million gallons.
In the low flow season, the Bull Run reservoir intakes 30 million gallons a day (13 billion at the highest).
We're not Phoenix. We don't HAVE TO worry about flushing water.
The big problem is that using urinals are faster.
ReplyDeleteAnd that means the lines outside the men's rooms are shorter and move faster, and hence men spend less time waiting in line.
This is inherently unfair, and must be addressed.

Pee on the floor. Problem solved.
ReplyDeleteApparently in Portland, symbolism in support of women (actually just to the detriment of men) is more important than protecting the environment...
