Too Stupid to Buy Bread at the Market Without Assistance

Daily Wire:
Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) introduced two bills on Thursday, one to eliminate the electoral college and the other to prohibit presidents from pardoning themselves or their family members.
A press release from Cohen's office stated that the "senior member of the House Judiciary Committee, introduced two Constitutional Amendments today on the opening day of the new Congress. The first would eliminate the Electoral College and provide for the direct election of the President and Vice President of the United States. The second would limit the presidential pardon power by prohibiting presidents from pardoning themselves, members of their families, members of their administrations and their campaign staff."
Constitutional amendment requires 2/3 of both houses of Congress and 3/4 of the states; the Sore Loser Party does not have 2/3 of the House and a minority of the Senate. What are the chances that 3/4 of the states are going to abandon the only significant advantage they have: the Electoral College?  This is just grandstanding for the sore losers.

  1. I tried to explain to my liberal cousin just why we need the electoral college, but of course, I wasted my time.
Just how much time would the states in the middle of the nation get to hear the candidates? The candidates would hit the coasts and Florida, and hit them hard. States like Iowa, Nebraska, et al, would never get a visit from an presidential candidate. And they would of course never have their concerns addressed, the big number states would get all the attention.
These people who constantly change the rules to benefit their party, are idiots. As we saw with the nomination of Supreme court justices, when you change the rules for yourself, you change them for the other party when they take over.

  2. The danger of Cohen's proposal isn't this year or the next, but the next decade or the one after. Democratic republics have a lot of moving parts. Defending each part to an increasingly ignorant populous will only get harder. We've allowed our schools to disintegrate and turn into indoctrination centers for the left.

  3. A few years ago I eavesdropped on a conversation of several Boise High students who had been convinced that the electoral college was unfair and believed in the national movement to abolish it....
