Disappointing Conversation With San Jose Police Department
Essentially, they said to file a police report with my local police, even though I gave the name and address of the San Jose resident who opened a FedEx account in my name (or rather Clayton Cramer LLC, which does not exist) on Dec. 3, and then used my credit card number two days later.
How did he get your credit card number?
ReplyDeleteNo idea. And my address.
ReplyDeleteHope you alerted your credit card company and had a new card with a different number issued.
ReplyDeleteI sincerely hope you've already notified your bank & cancelled that card.
ReplyDeleteThese days one can't be too careful! I know a man whose only use of his CC was at a restaurant: the waiter apparently made note of his name, CC number & exp. date, and some days later his acct got hit, but his CC provider made him good for his loss & sent him a new card.
I think filing in your local jurisdiction may be standard for this kind of thing. That sort of filing certifies that the victim is a real person, and really in that location - at least if they are willing to actually talk to you.
ReplyDeleteHopefully your local police will cooperate, and then send the results to San Jose.
Eskyman: Discover declined a large (>$100) purchase at FedEx and notified me! After looking over my account I found a much larger charge ($536) to Fed Ex a few day earlier, which they have refunded, Discover does their job well.
