1. Of course, I do not own any IP address at CWI.

2. I barely know what BitTorrent is, much less use it.

3. The only stuff that I download from YouTube is always downloaded at home.

4.Domain copyrightviolationnotices.gov is currently returning an "IP address not found" message.

5. More amusing is the link above: http://dontclickthis.knowbe4.com/XcmVEjaXBpZWr50X2lkPTPM5NjcxniMjcyTOSZjYW1wlYWJlnbl9ydW5faWQ9MTU5oMTcwMyZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2smdXJsPWh0dHBzOi8vc2VjdXJlZC1sb2dpbi5uZXQvcGFnZXMvYWI0MWVjYmQ0ZmE=

But someone. somewhere will be bamboozled into paying these crooks.

  1. Clayton,

The link that you cited in your post is from knowbe4.com, which is a commercial security education company.

It is likely that you received the suspicious e-mail as part of an effort to raise your awareness of scams and ransomware.

    Cheers,
    Rusty
